Matt’s journey in financial services informally began in 2003, meeting his now wife Kristina while his family attended a life insurance conference in Orlando. It wasn’t until the fall 2008 that he would join his father’s insurance practice in his hometown of Montreal, his brother and sister financial advisors in their own right. A week later global markets were rocked by the Great Financial Crisis, an early lesson on the value of durable financial planning in the midst of a market collapse.
Planning was also at the forefront when his father became critically ill and passed in 2012; the siblings managing the finances while dealing with a sudden and unexpected loss of not only their parent but the founder of the family business.
After moving to Ottawa with Kristina, Matt obtained his Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation in 2013 and incorporated his independent planning practice in 2015. In 2018 began working with Ana and IPC. There he helped several experienced advisors transition to retirement, assuming the role of successor by managing client affairs into the future.
It was in 2020 that Matt met Dean and Andre and became part of OPES Family Advisory where clients would experience a comprehensive process that could withstand the inevitable volatility in financial markets and family health. As Director of Planning Matt helps clients develop strategies to make their family’s objectives a reality. He studies financial planning tactics and industry trends and handles the firm’s operations and practice management.
Matt spends his downtime in the glamorous marshlands of Carp ON, trying to convince Kristina and their 2 children the Chicago Bears will be better next year…
