Born in Halifax, Dean graduated from Dalhousie University with a degree in Commerce, majoring in Finance. Putting his academic credentials to excellent use, Dean began his investment career in 1987 and has held the designation of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ for over 25 years. From 1989 to 1993, he was the Principal of Horizon Financial Services and has held numerous executive positions with many financial institutions including Manulife Financial / Manulife Securities as Financial Advisor and Sales Manager. He has also held the prestigious position of District Vice President of RBC Global Asset Management for Ottawa and Eastern Ontario, and now as Founder of OPES Family Advisory heads up the investment strategy Committee as lead portfolio manager.
Dean’s deep commitment to his field, his enthusiastic initiatives, breadth of knowledge, and experience have made him a formidable speaker all over Canada. Throughout his outstanding career, his diligent work has been recognized with many industry awards.
Dean resides in Ottawa Ontario with his spouse Trish and their two children. Dean is a founding member of the National Capital Chapter of the Sunshine Foundation and has raised funds to support our Canadian Olympic athletes through the Gold Medal Plate Dinner fundraiser.
